Auditions for The Old Shoemaker’s Christmas will be August 24, 25, 26 …. 6p-8p.
Location will be First Church of God, Akron Rd, Wooster OH 44691.
Cast size is approximately 35 and will be multigenerational ages 3rd grade – Adult.
Those auditioning will read from the script and be prepared to sing 1 verse or chorus of their favorite Christmas carol. This is not a musical but there will be songs added.
Performances are November 13,14 and 20,21 2026 at 7pm, and Sunday, 22, 2026 at 2:30pm.

Synopsis:
From the original story by Leo Tolstoy. Christmas Eve has come, but the old Russian shoemaker, Papa Panovich, is sad and alone. When he begins to read the story of the very first Christmas, the treasured words take on new life as he imagines and interacts with the words of Scripture. Then Papa Panovich believes he hears Jesus speaking to him, telling him that He will visit him tomorrow. All the next day while looking longingly for Jesus, Papa Panovich stops to help so many – providing a warm drink for Ivan, the old street sweeper; encouraging a struggling widow; keeping a gang of young pickpockets out of trouble; and finally giving a precious pair of shoes to a young mother’s child. In the end Papa learns a timeless lesson.
